Ophthalmology and optometry management provider Lumata Health recently announced the results of its new research report “Lumata’s Continuous Care Program Demonstrates Increased Appointment Attendance by Addressing Barriers to Care.” This report found that patients who used the Lumata Health Continuous Care model exhibited a much higher level of adherence to eye care treatment and protocols, with decreased attrition of retina visits and 70% of patients reporting one or more of their previous barriers to receiving eye care being resolved. The report also noted that the oldest patients received the greatest benefits from using Lumata, as they were able to overcome common barriers to receiving care, such as mobility and transportation — an especially important finding as roughly one in five people over the age of 85 experience permanent vision loss.
Chief Executive Officer of Lumata Health Landon Grace expressed his enthusiasm with this announcement, stating, “The solution to preventing blindness in chronic eye disease isn’t better treatment. It’s better care outside of the physician’s office, and that’s what [Lumata is] laser-focused on providing to people… With our highly specialized ophthalmic support and sustained wraparound care, we help patients overcome key barriers to getting their critical intravitreal injections and testing, especially the oldest patients hit hardest by vision-threatening disease.”
Founded in 2017 and based out of Raleigh, North Carolina, Lumata Health has revolutionized eye care management by helping to prevent vision loss and provide personalized support through its team of dedicated professionals located in over 40 states.
