Health insurance company Humana is teaming up with health consumer experience firm Accolade to “better provide a differentiated healthcare and benefits experience for consumers,” the companies say.
The companies intend to partner in order to offer a well-rounded service package that includes Humana’s provider networks, and other Humana insurance and benefits offerings, and bring Accolade’s member engagement services and integrated health and benefits partner programs.
The companies plan to launch the integrated platform first in the Cincinnati and Milwaukee areas.
The idea of the partnership is to provide consumers with a wide range of services and offer a platform that encourages healthier behavior among the insurer’s policyholders.
Accolade and Humana executives say the integration seeks to improve consumer engagement, experience, and outcomes in healthcare, while also lowering healthcare costs. They plan to leverage Accolade’s platform and personalized advocacy solution “to create a whole person, whole population health offering for self-funded employer clients, their employers, and families.”
“Humana is taking a major step forward in reinventing the way healthcare is experienced by employees and their families by expanding our solution in partnership with Accolade,” said Chris Hunter, president of Humana’s groups and specialty segment.
The Accolade platform brings employers and health plan members more than 100 solutions including price transparency, provider search, telemedicine, wellness, maternity, centers of excellence, disability, and leave. On the Accolade platform, Humana will be eable to bring employers a personalized service based on the specific healthcare and benefits needs of their entire employee and family populations.
