Strategy and Portfolio Development  Associate 
Anahita Nakhjiri

Anahita Nakhjiri is the Strategy and Portfolio Development Associate for McKesson Ventures. Anahita researches emerging health care trends, helping compile and communicate insights across key McKesson business units. In addition, she assists in identifying and commercializing synergy opportunities between portfolio companies and the McKesson ecosystem. 

Anahita previously worked at the Advisory Board Company in the performance technologies division consulting hospital executives on clinical and workflow process improvements. Anahita holds a B.A. in Business Economics from George Washington University. Although loyal to her Seattle roots, she enjoys living in California and the consistent sunshine and scenic nature it has to offer.

Carrie Hurwitz Williams
Carrie Hurwitz Williams, Principal at McKesson Ventures

Carrie brings nearly 15 years of healthcare experience from several vantage points within the healthcare industry. Prior to joining McKesson Ventures, she served as Vice President, Strategy and Business Development for San Francisco-based digital therapeutics pioneer Omada Health, whose mission is tied to reducing the risk for obesity related chronic disease.  

Prior to Omada, Carrie held roles within McKesson’s Strategy & Business Development team, working to advance strategies aimed at innovation within hospital pharmacy and clinical trial patient recruitment. She began her career in drug development, where she managed oncology clinical trials in both large pharmaceutical and biotech settings. Williams holds a Master of Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley and earned her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  Originally from Boston, she now calls San Francisco home, where she lives with her husband, daughter, and their golden retriever, Fenway.  You can take a girl out of Boston, but she’ll always love the Sox.

Managing Director
Dave Schulte
Dave Schultz

Dave Schulte is a Managing Director at McKesson Ventures and an accomplished health care and technology investor.

Prior to McKesson Ventures, he helped build Kaiser Permanente’s Venture program from $20M to $400M of assets under management and managed the investment team. 

His current and prior investments include: Landmark Health, SHYFT Analytics, Komodo Health, Aledade, Omada Health, Proteus Digital Health, Ingenious Med, MetricStream, Atheromed and Torax Medical.

Dave was also a software and health care investment banker at J.P. Morgan (Hambrecht & Quist), UBS, and Piper Jaffray. He is a graduate of St. John’s University and earned a Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard University.

Dave grew up in Minneapolis, where he was an all-state soccer and all-conference basketball player. Now he aspires to “all-backyard” in the eyes of his children.

Irem Mertol

Irem Mertol is the Director responsible for sourcing and performing due-diligence on potential investments, synthesizing industry trends to develop investment theses and supporting portfolio management. She brings several years of experience as both an investor and entrepreneur across healthcare services and technology companies. 

Most recently, Irem was responsible for developing and implementing network management, pharmacy benefit management and wellness products for self-insured organizations at Burd Health. Prior to Burd Health, she held product and business development roles with healthcare startups such as Omada Health, MC10 and Caremerge. Irem also brings relevant venture and growth equity investment experience from Andreessen Horowitz, Canvas Ventures, StartUp Health and Madison Dearborn Partners.

Irem holds an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and earned her undergraduate degree in Economics and Biomedical Engineering from Duke University. As a Bay Area native, who has lived in the Midwest and the East Coast, she now finds every excuse to take advantage of the outdoors and can usually be found exploring the urban hikes, parks and neighborhood tours of San Francisco.

VP Portfolio Development
Jennifer Carter
Jennifer Carter

Jennifer Carter is the Vice President of Portfolio Development for McKesson Ventures.  Jennifer works closely with portfolio companies to help identify and evaluate synergies across the McKesson ecosystem, which includes McKesson’s business units, customers and employee base. 

In addition, when these synergies  create mutual value she helps facilitate efficient execution by acting as a liaison or project manager in order to ensure McKesson Ventures lives up to its value proposition.

Jennifer brings over 15 years of experience from various roles across the McKesson enterprise.  Jennifer holds a B.S. in Economics from Boston College.  Although born and raised in San Francisco, Jennifer spends harvest season on the family farm cultivating pluots and disrupting the plum and apricot industries.

Chief Counsel
Julie Cho
Julie Cho

Julie Cho is lead counsel for McKesson Ventures.  In addition to being part of the McKesson Ventures team, she is an M&A attorney for McKesson Corporation.  Since joining McKesson in 2005, she has held various roles, including chief counsel for RelayHealth Pharmacy and chief counsel for the technology segment’s strategy and business development group. 

Cho started her career as an associate in the corporate department at WilmerHale in Boston, focusing on venture capital financing, M&A and securities.

Cho holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School, where she was an editor of the Harvard Law Review, and received her A.B. from Princeton University, though her home team will always be the Kansas Jayhawks.

McKesson is one of the newest recruits for Guide Dogs for the Blind. He is a yellow male Labrador retriever, born on March 10, 2017. He just left campus a week ago to spend the next year with his puppy raisers in Snohomish, Washington. He was named in honor of McKesson Ventures’ recent donation to GDB. SVP and Managing Director
Tom Rodgers
Tom Rodgers

Tom Rodgers is the Senior Vice President and Managing Director leading McKesson Ventures. He spent more than a decade in health care venture capital, most recently leading strategic investing efforts for Cambia Health, and before that as a Partner with Advanced Technology Ventures.

Before his venture capital career, Rodgers had significant operating experience in the health care industry. He held various strategy and commercial roles at leading technology companies such as McKesson, Genentech, FitLinxx and The Wilkerson Group.

Rodgers holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. He was an All-American rugby player and long ago the math team champion of New Hampshire. He requests that neither be held against him.
