Medication access company CoverMyMeds has acquired two new companies: RxLightning, a single destination specialty medication solution, and FastAuth, an automated end-to-end patient access software. The two newly acquired companies will be a key part of CoverMyMeds’ ongoing strategy to simplify access to medication and reduce the barriers between patients and the therapies that they are prescribed.
The addition of RxLightning will greatly optimize the process through which patients are able to join in patient support programs (PSPs) by accelerating the specialty medication enrollment process and reducing the number of administrative errors found in paper forms and faxes using its digital-first platform. Meanwhile, FastAuth will transform the medical prior authorization process through the use of powerful automation and intelligence that will simplify complex prior authorization workflows and improve access to specialty drugs for providers and patients.
President of CoverMyMeds Kevin Kettler expressed his enthusiasm with the announcement, stating, “The additions of RxLightning and FastAuth serve as a catalyst for the future of specialty medication access. By uniting with these purpose-built technologies, we’re accelerating a vision where technology removes friction from care, simplifies the provider experience and supports every patient in starting treatment without delay. Together, we’re building a more connected and compassionate healthcare experience.”
Founded in 2008 and located in Columbus, OH, CoverMyMeds has worked for nearly 20 years to improve automation of the prior authorization process with advanced healthcare software — the company was acquired by McKesson in 2017. The company’s two most recent acquisitions, FastAuth and RxLightning, were founded in 2018 and 2020, and are located in Baltimore, MD and New Albany, IN, respectively.
