Saint Thomas Health has partnered with telemedicine company Carena to offer virtual health care that is accessible and affordable for everyone. The newly introduced service—called Saint Thomas Health On Demand—is available 24/7.

A flat fee of $49 allows patients to meet with doctors and receive medical diagnoses, treatments, and prescriptions. Fahad Tahir, President and CEO of Saint Thomas Medical Partners, says that the decision to make their services available online was a response to the increasing demand for telemedicine.

“Listening to our patients, we continue to ask ourselves how we can bring Saint Thomas Health closer to home,” Tahir stated. “In addition to our physician practices in neighborhoods and communities across Middle Tennessee, we are pleased to offer an online tool providing even easier access to health care for our patients without ever having to leave their home or work.”

Saint Thomas Health is a division of Ascension, the largest Catholic nonprofit health care system in the U.S. As a faith-based medical provider, Saint Thomas Health has placed a special emphasis on making health care more accessible to the poor and vulnerable.

Ralph C. Derrickson, President and CEO of Carena, fully believes that telemedicine will help Saint Thomas achieve its goal of making health care more obtainable.

“We are pleased to partner with Saint Thomas Health to offer patients new options for getting their care needs met,” Derrickson stated. “Saint Thomas Health On Demand uses our technology to put its brand online where it is most accessible to consumers, while offering patients an exceptional care experience from a health care system they know and trust.”

Carena is a McKesson Ventures portfolio company. To read more about Saint Thomas’ Health On Demand, click here.
